This is an 8* TOP NL TOTAL on the OVER Marlins/Phillies.
This total is just a little bit too low in my opinion.
The Marlins go with Sandy Alcantara to open things up in the second half and he's 5-8 with a 3.09 ERA this season.
Alcantara got smashed by the Dodgers in his final outing before the break, allowing five runs over four innings to the Dodgers.
Overall Alcantara has been great, but minor and further regression in the second half seems imminent to me. I think he'll falter again here to open things up (if it's Pablo Lopez getting the start in the first game instead of Alcantara, this pick is still VALID. Lopez is 5-5 with a 3.03 ERA overall and he's been great, but note that he's only 2-2 with a 4.37 ERA on the road.)
The home side goes with Matt Moore, who is 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA. Moore gave up two runs over four innings in a no-decision to the Cubs on Monday.
Over 27.1 innings the veteran has a poor 1.68 WHIP and a pedestrian 23:14 K:BB.
I think these starters will get chased early in the opener of this double-header and that'll help in driving this total OVER before the final pitch is thrown.
Good luck, NP
