This is an 8* CUSTOMER APPRECIATION TOTAL on the OVER Cards/Rockies.
Perhaps surprisingly, neither team has been playing to many high-scoring affairs of late.
The first three games of this four-game series have all fallen UNDER the number, including in Colorado's 3-2 win yesterday.
Colorado has now seen the total go UNDER in seven straight.
I think the value has now swung the other way though as far as the total is concerned in the finale.
The visitors hand the ball to Carlos Martinez (4-9, 6.38 ERA), who gave up one run over six innings in a win over the Diamondbacks in his last outing.
Previous to that he'd lost five in a row and posted a 13.73 ERA and 2.44 WHIP, so I think we have to take this "blip on the radar" decent performance as just that.
It's been a terrible year for Martinez, who has consistently been at his worst on the road as well, going just 1-6 with a 7.61 ERA away from friendly confines.
German Marquez is 7-6 with a 3.62 ERA. He is coming off a nine inning shutout victory over the Pirates.
Marquez has been strong at home this year as well, but I love going against pitchers after they've had a big performance, so this one sets up perfectly to take advantage of (note that he's just 3-5 with a 4.86 ERA in all "day" games.)
The stage is set for some fireworks, expect this one to fly OVER the number by the mid innings.
The play is the OVER.
Good luck, NP
