Total: 9.00 | -111.00 Over
Result: Loss
This is a 10* TOP SATURDAY TOTAL on the OVER Cubs/Reds.
While yesterday's game stayed well UNDER in the Reds' 2-1 victory, I expect some runs to be plated here on Saturday afternoon.
The Cubs will be motivated here to get off the schneid now after seven straight losses, while the Reds are out to keep the good times rolling after winning six of ten and their last two in a row.
Chicago hands the ball to Adbert Alzolay, who is 4-7 with a 4.55 ERA and who was just rocked for six runs off five hits over three innings in a loss to the Dodgers last weekend. It was for sure his worst start of the season.
And note, while he's 3-2 with a 3.86 ERA at home, Alzolay is just 1-5 with 5.38 ERA on the road.
The Reds counter with Tyler Mahle, who is 7-3 with a 3.74 ERA. Mahle is coming off a poor outing as well, allowing four runs off six hits over six innings in a loss to the Braves.
Overall Mahle has been fantastic this year for Cincinnati, but note, while he's a great 5-1 with a 2.03 ERA on the road, he's a terrible 2-2 with a 6.85 ERA at home.
This one sets up well for an offensive affair. Both teams are hungry for a win here, and each faces a now struggling starting pitcher.
Finally, note that Chicago has seen the total go OVER the number in seven of its last ten after playing to five or more straight UNDERS in a row.
This number is indeed low, the play is the OVER.
Good luck, NP
