Money Line: -157.00 San Francisco (Home)
Result: Loss
This is an 8* NL TOP SIDE on the Giants.
The Giants are playing well right now. The Rockies are playing poorly. At some point shortly, the Giants are going to have a letdown, but I don't think it's coming yet.
San Francisco is coming off a few poor seasons in a row, so there's no procrastiation whatsoever from this team this season. The Giants are rolling at the plate, most recently destroying Colorado 12-0 in last night's opener.
The Rockies haven't been playing poorly, they're just coming off a bad game. This is also a bad starting pitching matchup for them and it's what we're primarily basing this pick on.
Chi Chi Gonzalez is 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA so far for the Rockies. He gave up one run over five innings to the soft-hitting Mets last time out. His ERA is decent (over just 15 innings), but his poor 8:7 K:BB tells the true tale.
Aaron Sanchez went five scoreless vs. the Marlins in his last start. He's 1-1 with a 1.83 ERA and he sports a sharp 14:4 K:BB.
This line could in fact be a lot larger in our opinions, meaning that the value swings to the undervalued super hot home side.
The play is SAN FRANCISCO.
Good luck, NP
