These two teams aren't going to be in the playoffs. Neither has been officially eliminated at this point, but barring a miracle of miracles, neither the 13-23 Ducks, nor the 18-19 Sharks are going to be in the post-season.

So where does the motivation come from? The Sharks I guess have an outside shot still at making it, but they're absoultely going to have to start winning immediately.

And what better time than right now than against the Ducks, who beat them here 4-0 on Monday night. Clearly the Sharks will be out to atone for that pathetic offensive performance.

The problem for San Jose though this season has been its poor defense , a unit which concedes 3.29 goals per game.

The good thing though for the Sharks is that they're facing a Ducks team, that despite posting the shuout last time out, that still allows 3.14 goals per game.

San Jose has also seen the total go OVER the number in eight of its last 11 home games in trying to revenge a home loss versus an opponent in which it was shutout in.

Neither team scores a lot. But neither team can keep the puck out of the net either.

While their last game went UNDER the number, I think everything points to the rematch on Wednesday night as being a higher-scoring OVER.
