This is a 10* BOOKIEKILLER on St. John's.
Big East foes here colliding in the Garden State on Friday afternoon. St. John's enters off an 82-79 win over Rider and I think it's going to give the Pirates everything they can handle today.
Seton Hall crushed Wagner 78-45 in its last outing, but it faces a much stiffer test today, as the Red Storm play with revenge here, having lost two straight and five of the last six in the series. And that includes an 81-65 victory in the most recent matchup, February 23rd, 2020.
Vince Cole had 26 points in St. John's most recent win and he leads an offense which averages 82.3 points per game, ranked 61st in the nation. The Red Storm haven't been quite as good defensively, allowing 75.3 points per game, but I'll point out that St. John's is 8-3 against-the-spread in its last 11 after scoring 80 or more points in a straight-up victory in its last outing.
Seton Hall has won two in a row now to even up its record at 3-3.
The Pirates average 77.5 points per game and they concede 71.8. Jared Rhoden leads the charge with 15.7 points and 7.2 boards per game.
The Pirates have had the Red Storm's number over the last few years, but that was then and this is now.
St. John's has a fantastic offense and I do think that it has a legitimate shot at winning this one outright, but in the end, I'll recommend to grab as many points as you can in a contest which I see coming right down to the wire; the play is ST. JOHN'S!
Good luck, NP
