Best Bet - Miami Marlins -170
(MLB) Miami vs. Pittsburgh,
Money Line: -170.00 Miami (Away)
Result: Win
This one between a pair of sub-.500 teams comes down to one thing more than anything else and that is pitching. While some will point to the fact that Mitch Keller has been better of late, pitching to a 3.38 ERA (2.98 FIP ERA) over 45.1 innings in his last eight starts, striking out 40, the fact remains that it hasn't put games in the win column. Pittsburgh is just 3-5 in those contests and Keller himself has but one win in that stretch, posting a 1-2 record. The Pirates are just 28th in runs per game with 3.63 per contest and they have the misfortune of facing the frontrunner for the NL Cy Young in Sandy Alcantara. Alcantara leads the league in innings (138.1), WHIP (0.904), ERA (1.76) and hits allowed per nine innings (six) this season. He's turned in 13 straight starts where he threw at least seven innings and posted a staggering 12 super quality starts (7 IP, 2 ER or less) over that stretch. Throw in that the Pirates average the third-most strikeouts in the majors (9.28 per contest) and Alcantara is primed to mow them down. Take the Marlins on getaway day in the Steel City.
