Money Line: -143.00 San Diego (Away)
Result: Loss
San Diego is expected to close the series with newly-acquired right-hander Jake Arrieta, who suddenly finds himself battling for a spot in the Padres’ postseason rotation. Picked up off of waivers from the Cubs on Monday, the veteran is penciled in to make his Padres’ debut just two days later. In his last start he had his worst outing of his career giving up 7 runs in the 1st inning.

The Padres should end the series off on a high note with the offense coming to life. The Padres should run up the score in the game with Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machado, Jake Cronenworth, and the entire Padres batting order making hard contact off of Chi Chi Gonzalez to force him out of the game early. The Padres meanwhile should receive a strong start from Jake Arrieta as he pitches five or even six innings against the Rockies' batting order, eliminating the back half of the lineup while turning the ball over to the strong bullpen with the lead. The Padres should win the game and end the series on a high note.
