The Angels are hot. The Cardinals are not. St. Louis is 4-5 in its last nine games. But those wins have come against the Marlins and Mets. The scores of those games have been a little deceiving as well, and the Cardinals really aren't playing all that well right now.

The Angels are starting to get healthy, and they are starting to find a groove. Mike Trout is on a tear, and now that he has real protection from Shohei Ohtani - rather than the aging Albert Pujols - Trout will get even more pitches to hit. Michael Wacha has been garbage for the Cardinals. He's bounced between the pen and the rotation, and he got lit up by the light-hitting Mets his last time out. In fact, he's allowed 19 runs in his last 19 innings.
