Mets over Pirates- A pair of clubs who are moving in opposite directions as Pittsburgh whose season looked so bright entering the All-Star break has dropped seven straight and 13 of their last 16 while the Mets who were 40-50 at the break have won three straight and nine of their last 13. The Pirates will start Chris archer (3-7, 5.40 ERA) who has been a major disappointment for the Bucs is winless in his last eight starts while New York starts veteran Jason Vargas (5-5, 3.96) who allowed just one hit at San Diego on Tuesday and is 2-2 with a 2.68 ERA against the Pirates holding opponents to a .201 average in his last seven starts.
