Pirates over Cardinals- The St. Louis Cardinals are one of the top organizations in all of baseball as they end up one of the more competitive teams year after year even after injuries and trades and defections. The Pirates meanwhile have been moving into the playoff picture the past few seasons and opened the season with a win opening day against the Redbirds. Michael Wacha (17-7, 3.38 ERA) was so difficult to hit last season but it appears he left his stuff behind as he has yielded eight earned runs, 25 hits in less then 18 spring training innings. Jonathon Niese (9-10, 4.13 ERA) makes his Pirates debut and he is 3-1 with a 3.47 ERA in four starts at PNC Park. Take PITTSBURGH!
