Pirates over Cardinals- If the Pirates played any kind of defense last night in St. Louis they would have shut out the Cardinals and posted a 2-0 win but alas they were brutal defensively and that's why the 'Red- Birds' are 33 games over .500. Pittsburgh's Francisco Liriano (7-6, 3.13 ERA) is 3-0 in his last seven starts and is 4-2 with a 2.42 ERA lifetime against St. Louis. Lance Lynn (9-6, 2.76) has allowed two or fewer runs in 16 of his 21 starts but was touched up by Pittsburgh in July when he surrendered five runs in four innings and received the loss.
