Diamondbacks at Nationals
(MLB) Diamondbacks (ARI) vs. Nationals (WAS),
Money Line: -112.00 Nationals (WAS) (Home)
Result: Loss
A big difference a few months can make. Back in October, the D-backs were in the World Series, and the Nats were bringing up the rear in the NL East, finishing 33 games behind the Braves. Eight months later, the teams meet in D.C...and it's Washington carrying the better record, and one win from getting to .500 tonight. Oddsmakers still seem a bit slow to react here, because based on current form and pitching numbers, the Nats should be favored by more. Washington has won eight of nine, and tonight's starter Jake Irvin has been one of many pleasant surprises in the rotation; we'll say as across his last five starts, his ERA is a microscopic 1.48. So we're not sure what the oddsmakers are weighing here, as Arizona's Slade Cicconi is one of the worst-performing hurlers in the NL, especially in June, with an 8.25 ERA in three starts. Shouldn't the Nats be a heavier favorite here? Play Nats on Money Line
