Ole Miss-LSU in Baton Rouge conjures memories of Johnny Vaught vs. Paul Dietzel and Billy Cannon's magical 89-yard punt return TD on Halloween night 1959 (though the Rebs got their revenge in the Sugar Bowl two months later). If there has been a fundamental difference between these sides thus far, it's on defense, where LSU ranks well down the list in the SEC (14th) and Ole Miss near the top (4th), and the Rebs feeling good after smothering South Carolina last week in a game many thought Lane Kiffin would lose. But this is a special rivalry that once burned as bright as any in the country, and in recent years there has been a real edge to playing at home, as the host side has won outright last four meetings and covered in the last five. This is also the time of the season when Brian Kelly's LSU has shifted gears the past two seasons. With 15 TD passes already, Garrett Nussmeier is well on his way to 35 or more TD passes on the season, and the Tigers have a score to settle after that beyond bitter 55-49 loss at Vaught-Hemingway last season.
