Washington at Iowa
(NCAAF) Huskies (WAS) vs. Hawkeyes (IOW),
Point Spread: -2.50 | -112.00 Hawkeyes (IOW) (Home)
Result: Win
What's the upside of losing to Ohio State last week? You don't have to lose to Ohio State again this week. So it goes for the Hawkeyes, who not only avoid the Buckeyes on Saturday but also Iowa State, another top ten team (well, ranked 11th right now, but the Cyclones are a top ten team), which won a 20-19 thriller at Iowa City last month. So, to paraphrase Lloyd Bentsen from the 1988 VP debate vs. Dan Quayle, "I knew the Buckeyes, and Washington Huskies, you're no Ohio State." So don't expect it to be as tough a go for Iowa this week. In truth, the Hawkeyes offense has shown more creativity this season for new OC Tim Lester (former HC at Western Michigan), though QB Cade McNamara is still more apt to hand off to Kalen Johnson, one of the nation's top rushers with 771 YR already 9and registering a whopping 7.9 ypc). Meanwhile, the Huskies haven't been to Iowa City since Jim Owens brought his 1964 edition (and lost, 28-18), and the Huskies' lone road trip to date (at Rutgers) didn't go so well, and now facing one of the most rock-ribbed defenses in the country. Still not convinced this Will Rogers-led offense is hitting on all cylinders, as the win voer Michigan doesn't impress us much this season. Play Iowa
