Preseason Interconference Game of the Year
Pittsburgh with two games under belt but lost both. Steelers defense struggled but they have not put their full first-team defense on the field yet. Furthermore, those first-teamers who have played have not played much.
Cam Heyward, for example, played a total of 24 snaps in two games. Lawrence Timmons (turf toe injury), played 10. Safety Mike Mitchell has not played, and cornerback Cortez Allen played in 17 snaps.
Keith Butler, their new coordinator, introduced all kinds of changes since taking over and young defense struggling to adjust. Opposing quarterbacks have completed 70 percent of their passes against the Steelers in two preseason games and have a 93.1 passer rating.
The Steelers have prepped by actually looking at the Packers. The team has been working off of play cards in practice to emulate Green Bay looks.
On Thursday, Tomlin said the Steelers are using a combination of Green Bay preseason opener against the New England Patriots and previous Steelers games against the Packers to scout their preseason home opener opponent.
