Take #272 LA Rams over Arizona Cardinals
(NFL) Arizona vs. LA Rams,
Point Spread: -6.50 | -115.00 LA Rams (Home)
Result: Win
Two division rivals that won a total of nine games in 2022 play the first of two matchup this season on Sunday when the Los Angeles Rams host the Arizona Cardinals. The Rams (2-3) and Cardinals (1-4) split the season series the last two seasons, with the road team winning each one. Prior to 2021, the Rams had won eight consecutive regular-season games over the Cardinals with Sean McVay as head coach. Both teams are searching for an identity. The Rams fell to 5-12 last season after winning the Super Bowl, and the Cardinals were 4-13, which led to the departure of head coach Kliff Kingsbury and the hiring of Jonathan Gannon. The Cardinals have been competitive in their four losses, but in those games have been outscored 51-0 in the fourth quarter. They will be facing the Rams without leading rusher James Conner, who was placed on injured reserve Tuesday after sustaining a knee injury in the second quarter last week against the Cincinnati Bengals. Arizona likely will use a committee approach at the position, led by rookie free agent Emari Demercado, who rushed for 45 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries and caught a pass for 12 yards against the Bengals. A case can be made that both these NFC West squads have surpassed expectations this season, as very little was expected from either. However, I have some concerns from Arizona which are starting to pop up. Cards QB Joshua Dobbs is becoming exposed for his indecisiveness in making decisions and throwing the ball, which is why he never found a home in Pittsburgh or Tennessee. The Cardinals have banged up in the secondary and they have slid to #26 against the pass. With Matthew Stafford as accurate as I have seen him since his Super Bowl season, he has Cooper Kupp back to go along with rookie sensation Puka Nacua and TE Tyler Higbee, the Rams should move the ball. Aaron Donald had a poor game for him last week, but Arizona's O-Line is not the same as the Eagles O-Line and Donald should be quite disruptive.
