I didn't take any favorites yesterday, and this may seem like a no-brainer, but you have to take the gifts when they are there. Although big favorites fail to cover the run line at home all the time, I don't see that happening here. The Yankees have had a day to sit on back-to-back losses to the Red Sox. They are 4-1 after losing back-to-back games this season, with a 16-0 win being the result against the Pirates on July 6, the last time they were on a two-game skid.
Gerrit Cole has a 2.31 ERA at home this season, and the Yankees have won five of Cole's last seven starts by at least two runs, with the two exceptions being games against the Red Sox and Astros.
The Reds are riding high on a four-game winning streak, including a three-game sweep against Tampa Bay. It's time for the Reds to come down here. They will be sending out Graham Ashcraft to the mound, who has a 6.98 road ERA, and a bullpen that had an MLB-worst 5.42 ERA and has allowed the second-most home runs (50) against a loaded Yankee lineup.
The Yankees run line is the pick.
