The Minnesota Wild are coming to New York to take on the Rangers on the back of two consecutive wins. Those were both at home though, and the Wild are not nearly as strong on the road. The Rangers have won both of their last two home games, and I like their chances to make that three in a row.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. The Wild's questionable offense - Minnesota may be coming off a 7-2 win against the Lightning, but lets put that performance in perspective. That was Tampa's fifth consecutive game on the road and second in as many days, with the Wild only scoring 12 goals over the first five games prior. I'm not convinced this Wild offense who ranked near the bottom of the league last season has turned a new leaf just yet, and they're still looking for their first power play goal of the season.
2. Road Woes - The Wild have lost two consecutive games away from home, and have only won one of their last six on the road dating back to last season. They finished the 2013-2014 season with a fairly weak road record, going 17-17-7 and have dropped five of the last seven meetings in New York.
3. X-factor - Rick Nash has scored eight goals and nine points so far this season. He might be able add to that total tonight as Minnesota have played without defensemen Keith Ballard and Christian Folin the last two games, with the duo out with flu-like symptoms.
Selection: This is a play on the New York Rangers (10*)
