ROGERS #1 ACC GAME OF THE YEAR - 23-4 RECORD!
(NCAAF) Cavaliers (UVA) vs. Demon Deacons (WF),
Money Line: -122.00 Demon Deacons (WF) (Home)
Result: Loss
At 7: 00 ET, my ACC GOY is on Wake Forest. In my opinion, home field advantage will be a very real deciding factor in this early season ACC showdown. The Demon Deacons have won 5 straight in the series and they've covered each of the past 7 meetings. Wake Forest took care of North Carolina A&T by a score of 45-13. They narrowly missed covering the 33.5-point spread but did rack up more than 500 yards of offense. Wake opens the season with four straight at home and I think it'll make the most of that opportunity here in Week 2, before welcoming Ole Miss next week. Virginia pulled away for the 34-13 win over Richmond at home last weekend, but now hitting the road for the first time, I believe the Cavs will stumble. They are 0-4 straight up and 1-3 ATS their last 4 road openers. UVA QB Anthony Colandrea was 17 of 23 with two TD's last week but Wake Forest's defense is clearly on a different level than what he just faced. The Demon Deacons' offense was firing on all cylinders last week, with Hank Bachmeier going 18 of 28 for 263 yards and three TD's. And the run game was also dominant for the Deacons, with Demond Claiborne leading the way with 135 yards and a TD. Both teams are improved from last season but I think Wake Forest is the correct call here, as its balance throughout all three phases, combined with home field advantage, will prove to be the difference-maker.
