This year, both are respectable, though both trail Vancouver for the Cascadia Cup. Each will be fighting for home field advantage in the playoffs, and that will make for a great match. At home, the Timbers will have the edge. One important consideration which will hurt the Sounders is that they were involved in a very tight and tense US Open Cup semi-final match on Wednesday, which they lost in heartbreaking fashion against LA on a late penalty.
