Result: Loss
Bowling Green: The Falcons entered the 2016 season off four straight bowl appearances, including 10-win seasons in 2013 and 2015. Head coach Dave Clawson left town for Wake Forest after 2013 and Dino Babers stayed for just two years, leaving after last year for Syracuse. QB Matt Johnson threw for 3469 yards with 25 TDs and seven INTs in 2013 and then after missing almost the entire 2014 season with an injury, exploded for 4946 passing yards with 46 TDs and eight INTs last year. New head coach Mike Inks (first head coaching job) had a modest 11 starters back to open 2016 and this starting QB, James Knapke, started 11 games in 2014, when Johnson was hurt. However, the 2016 Falcons are 1-4, beating only North Dakota 27-26 (not North Dakota St, by the way!). An offense which averaged 42.2 PPG on just under 550 YPG in 2015, checks in averaging 17.2 PPG (123rd) on 368.8 YPG (93rd). The defense is allowing 49.8 PPG (128th of 128) om 541.8 YPG (127th).

Ohio: Frank Solich arrived in Athens back in 2005 and now enters his 12th season at Ohio U. A school which had earned just two prior bowl bids in its history (the 1962 Sun Bowl and the 1968 Tangerine Bowl), has now been ‘bowling' seven times in Solich's first 11 seasons, including five consecutive trips from 2009-2013. This year's Bobcats opened with an embarrassing 56-54 (3 OTs) loss at home to Texas State (as 17 1/2-point favorites) but have gone 3-1 since, losing only a covering effort at current 9th-ranked Tennessee (lost just 28-19 as a 27-point dog!). QB Windham leads the team with 976 passing yards (7 TDs / 2 INTs) plus also in rushing with 309 yards (5.0 YPC) and two more TDs.

The pick: Forget series history, as this year's team bears no relation to recent past editions of the falcons. Blowing Green comes in 0-5 ATS on the season and after getting his career starts last week in a loss to Eastern Michigan, redshirt freshman QB Morgan (23 of 46 for 250 yards with one TD & one INT) will now make his first-ever road start. This year's Ohio team will be favored these next three games and can get to 6-2 (including 4-0 in the MAC) by winning them all. First things first. This year's Ohio U can score and BG's defense is a ‘nightmare.' Lay the points and make Ohio a 10* play.
