Rogers' 10* Sunday Night SURE SHOT
(NFL) Chicago vs. Dallas,
Point Spread: -6.50 | -108.00 Dallas (Home)
Result: Win
Chicago: The Bears are 0-2 to open the season, coming off a 6-10 effort in Fox's first year in Chicago (2015). Jay Cutler sprained his right thumb Monday and was forced to leave the game early because he could not grip the football. Eight-year veteran Brian Hoyer is expected to start against the Cowboys in place of Cutler in this one. The Bears are riddled with injuries on both sides of the field, as they look to win their first game of 2016 in this SNF contest. RB Ka'Deem Carey (hamstring) is expected to miss, which hardly is good news for a running game averaging 68.5 YPG. On defense, LB Lamarr Houston tore his ACL last week (he's out for the season) plus the unit may be missing NT Eddie Goldman (ankle) and LB Danny Trevathan (thumb).

Dallas: The Cowboys selected Prescott in the fourth round of this year's draft at No. 135 overall. However, two games into his career, he's made some history. The former Mississippi State QB has thrown 75 passes without an interception in his first two NFL games, breaking the record held by Warren Moon, who started his career with 72 passes without an interception. After a tough 20-19 loss to the Giants in Week 1, Prescott earned his first victory last week by guiding a late TD drive in a 27-23 win at Washington. "He exudes confidence," Dallas owner Jerry Jones said about Prescott. Although fellow rookie RB Ezekiel Elliott found himself on the bench during crunch time after fumbling, he did rush for 83 yards and a TD against the Redskins.

The pick: Hoyer is 15-11 in 26 career starts but Chicago's running game offers little help (68.5 YPG on 3.6 YPC) plus leading WR Alshon Jeffery (knee) did not practice Thursday and is questionable in this one. The Dallas pass D has allowed 276.5 YPG but is Hoyer able to take advantage of that? Dallas is awful as a home favorite (2-12 ATS its last 14 in that role) but I had them last Sunday at Washington, noting that Prescott was terrific in the preseason, completing 39 of 50 for 454 yards with five TDs and no interceptions (no one had a better QB rating than his 137.8). Prescott came through in Week 2 and against Hoyer and an injured Bear contingent, does so again. Dallas is a 10* play.
