The Winnipeg Jets are 13 points ahead of the Arizona Coyotes in the standings, currently holding down the last play-off spot in the Western Conference. They're off a 1-3-0 home-stand, but have been far more successful on the road this season. The Coyotes were schooled in a 6-0 loss at St. Louis two days ago and have won only one of their last six playing on one day of rest. The Jets won the first meeting this season 6-2 here in Arizona, and I think they'll leave as winners once again.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Special Teams - Winnipeg has shown impressive efficiency on the power play lately, going 6-for-15 over their last four games. Expect more goals tonight as Arizona has struggled on the penalty kill all season long, giving up a goal on just under 25% of its penalties. It allowed three goals on five penalties against the Blues Tuesday and has allowed at least one goal in three consecutive contests.
2. Road Warriors - The Jets have won more games on the road than in their own building this season, going 11-4-4 outside of Winnipeg. They've won three of their last four away from home, despite visiting teams like the Blackhawks and the surging Stars.
3. X-Factor - Blake Wheeler was dominant in the first meeting this season notching two goals and an assist. He'll be looking to extend a six game point-streak, and I expect him to terrorize the Coyotes once again.
Selection: This is a play on the Winnipeg Jets (8*)
