The Los Angeles Kings have had trouble finding any consistency over recent games, dominating each contest without getting the result they deserve. Last night's 2-1 loss at Calgary was a prime example as they found a way to lose the game despite outshooting the Flames 27-15. The Edmonton Oilers on the other hand have been very consistent for over a month and a half now. Too bad for them they've been consistently poor, winning only one game since Nov 11, and a win won't come easy tonight either against the reigning Stanley Cup champs.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. The Oilers Turbulence – Replacing Head Coach Dallas Eakins with Todd Nelson has not had the effect the higher ups in Edmonton would have hoped for so far as the Oilers still look like a team in disarray. They have added a couple of new faces with Derek Roy and Matt Fraser joining the club, resulting in rumors that Taylor Hall, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Nail Yakupov will leave the franchise shortly. Edmonton is not a club in harmony at the moment .
2. Home Cookin'? – The Oilers haven't enjoyed anything close to a home ice advantage, with a record of 5-12-2 at Rexall Place.
3. X-Factor – Tyler Toffoli is leading the Kings with his 12 goals. He had one goal and one assist in the first meeting between these two sides this season and will be looking to find the net for a third consecutive game tonight.
