The Colorado Avalanche will be looking a for similar performance that saw them cruise to a 5-0 victory against the St. Louis Blues in Colorado only six days ago. They have played Chicago in between those two meetings, losing 5-2, but the Blues are even worse for wear currently on a four game skid. I think we're getting a terrific price on the visitors tonight.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Special Teams - The Blues penalty kill ranks among the worst in the league with a kill rate of 77.5%. They've allowed at least one power-play goal in each of their last six games, going 22-for-32 on the penalty kill. Colorado has gone 4-for-14 on the power play over its last four games.
2. Seymon Varlamov - The 27 year old Russian has three shutouts in his last eight match-ups against the Blues and has compiled a 1.75 GAA against them lifetime.
3. X-Factor - Don't let the Avs 5-2 loss against the Blackhawks deter you. Colorado is great at bouncing back from disappointing performances, winning eight straight games following a home loss of 3 or more goals.
Selection: This is a play on the Colorado Avalanche (8*)
