The Columbus Blue Jackets have bounced back after a nine game losing streak and are coming off two consecutive wins. A big reason for their slump was an injury to their Nr.1 netminder but with him fit they're almost like a different team. The Red Wings have scored only six goals over their last three on the road, all losses, and I think they will struggle to find the net tonight as well.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Sergei Bobrovsky - The 26 year old Russian missed eight games due to a broken finger but made a comeback in Saturday's win against the Sharks where he stopped 36 of 37 shots. His return is certainly bad news for the Red Wings, Bobrovski is 4-1-1 with a 1.70 GAA in seven starts against Detroit with Columbus.
2. Trends - Five of the last six match-ups between the two teams have gone under the total. Also, the Red Wings are coming off a 4-1 loss against the Canadiens, and they have a propensity of playing low scoring games after a big loss as the under is 4-0-1 in the Red Wings last five following a loss of 3 or more goals.
3. X-factor - The Blue Jackets are ranked 26th in the NHL on the penalty kill, but expect that to change with Bobrovsky back between the pipes. They killed off all three penalties they faced against the Sharks, and the Red Wings have not exactly impressed on the man advantage ranking in the bottom half.
Selection: This is a play on DET@CBJ to go under the total (10*)
