The Northwestern Wildcats opened the season with a dominant 43-3 win as a 14-point favorite against Maryland in their season opener. Graduate transfer quarterback Peyton Ramsey was 23 of 30 for 212 yards and scored five touchdowns and led an offense that racked up a total of 537 yards of offense. The Wildcats looked terrific on the defensive side of the ball as well, limiting the Terps to 207 total yards.

Iowa took a 24-20 loss as a 3-point favorite at Purdue, a rather demoralizing loss as they looked like they were in control before giving up 10 unanswered points in the fourth quarter.
