Money Line: -164.00 Chi Cubs (Away)
Result: Loss
Play: Chicago Cubs
Rating: 8*
The Chicago Cubs will be pissed off after getting swept by NL Central rival the Cardinals. They visit the Miami Marlins for the opener of a four-game set Thursday, and I like the Cubs to break out of their slump.
They'll face Wei-Yin Chen (4-2, 5.22) on the mound. The left-hander conceded six runs and seven hits in 2 1/3 innings in a no-decision against Colorado on Saturday. He's been charged with 15 earned runs on 23 hits with seven homers through just 13 2/3 innings in his last three turns. Ben Zobrist is 15-for-40 (.375) with three doubles and a homer off the southpaw.
The Cubs turn to a left-hander as well as Jon Lester (9-3, 2.06 ERA) will take the mound for the visitors. He's won five straight starts while going at least six innings each time while surrendering a total of five earned runs during that span. Lester is 0-2 with a 6.00 ERA in three starts against the Marlins but I think he'll ride his momentum for a big performance tonight.
Cubs are 11-2 in their last 13 road games vs. a left-handed starter and 7-2 in their last nine games following a loss. No way they'll drop four in a row.
