These teams have played to some pretty high-scoring affairs this year, but I feel that when the smoke clears at the end of this one, the total is going to sneak below the posted number. These teams are 2-2, each has looked great at times and pretty pedestrian in others. Atlanta comes in as the NFC's highest scoring team, but suffered a major blow as it lost center Joe Hawley and right tackle Lamar Holmes to season ending injuries in Sunday's 41-28 loss at Minnesota. With these two key pieces missing, I believe veteran QB Matt Ryan will suffer today. Eli Manning has looked a lot better in back to back victories, he had four TD's and 300 yards in a 45-14 win at Washington last Thursday, but he'll face a familiar face in ex-Giant defender Osi Umenyiora; Umenyiora will also be tasked to slow down RB Rashad Jennings, who is third in the league with 341 yards. Manning will also be looking to protect the ball a little better here, not unsurprisingly, New York has an NFL-high seven INT's so far, including four last week. The nemesis for Ryan and company has been the road, the Falcons have lost by an average of 13.5 points in two games away from friendly confines and have in fact dropped nine of their last ten dating back to last year. It's interesting to note that the total has gone UNDER the number in eight of these team's last nine in the series.
