AAA's *Lions/Jets* SITUATIONAL DESTRUCTION! 6-0 (100%) L/SUNDAY!
(NFL) Detroit vs. NY Jets,
Point Spread: 2.00 | -105.00 NY Jets (Home)
Result: Loss
This is an 8* SITUATIONAL DESTRUCTION on the New York Jets.

The Jets are coming off a 27-19 home loss to Chicago and will be hungry to get back on track in front of the home town crowd. Despite throwing an ill-advised throw which was intercepted on his first play from scrimmage, QB Geno Smith did finish with 316 passing yards last week. New York simply wasn't able to get into the endzone, coming up with just one TD in six trips to the red zone. Coach Rex Ryan has given Smith his full support: "I think everybody's behind Geno," Ryan assessed. "He's our quarterback and our football team believes in him, so that's it. Here's why I believe so much that Geno will improve: I've seen him improve," he continued. "I've seen him make huge improvements, from where he was last year and from how he progressed through the season, where he's at. But I'll say this: I think he's going to continue to improve. I truly believe that." What is being overlooked though is that New York is second in the NFL with 472 rushing yards; note that Smith also benefits from the expected return of top WR Eric Decker who re-aggravated a hamstring injury in the loss on Monday. New York has also been fantastic in stopping the run, it's allowed just 2.8 yards per carry and league-best 55 yards per game. The secondary will admittedly have its hands full with Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate; note though that Johnson will be a game time decision because of an ankle injury (if Johnson does play, he's not going to be 100%). Detroit's defense looked pretty good in last week's 19-7 win, but the victory came at a cost as starting middle linebacker Stephen Tulloch suffered a season-ending knee injury. Note, already 0-1 ATS on the road this year, Detroit is just 6-11 ATS in the same position over the last three. And note that New York is 4-3 ATS in its last seven non-conference contests. I feel that the situation, the numbers and the trends all point to the JETS as the sharp wager in this one.
