This is an 8* UNDERDOG SUPER PLAY on SMU.
It's The Battle for the Iron Skillet; TCU is 2-0, SMU is 0-3. TCU is a good team, SMU is a horrible team. All of that said, I think the Mustangs will be able to do just enough today to sneak in through the back door as the game comes down the stretch with the large spead that they've been afforded in this one. This is a great situational play I think as TCU is coming off its second bye week in three weeks and I think will not only come in a bit rusty, but also complacent here in facing lowly SMU in its final non-conference game. This is a classic let-down/look-ahead spot for TCU. SMU QB Garrett Krstich is the fourth different QB that the Mustangs have used, but was decent in going 13 of 24 for 137 yards after taking over in the second quarter of last week's game for the ineffective Kolney Cassell. Note that TCU is 0-4 ATS the last two seasons as a road favorite and just 1-2 ATS after two or more consecutive SU wins; and note that SMU is 2-1 ATS in its last three after two or more consecutive SU losses, and 8-5 ATS in its last 13 in front of the home town crowd. I feel that the situation, the numbers and the trends all point to SMU as the sharp wager in this one.
