This is an 8* TOTAL BLOCKBUSTER on the UNDER between the New Orleans Saints and the Cleveland Browns.
Both teams are coming off high-scoring losses and because of that, I think they'll each come out with a much more concerted effort on the defensive side of the ball today and ultimately expect this total to sneak below the posted number at the end of the afternoon. This is a big game for both teams as they look to avoid an 0-2 start, something that the visiting Saints haven't had to deal with since 2007 when they opened the campaign 0-4, and after going just 3-5 away from friendly confines last year, there's no question that there is an immense amount of pressure on the team to perform today. New Orleans has to be kicking itself after last week's 37-34 OT loss against division rival Atlanta; the defense was a disaster obviously, but I think has a big opportunity today vs. a Browns offensive unit which is still looking for an identity. The pressure is no less intense in Cleveland though, the Browns would open 2013 0-2, after starting 0-5 in 2012. Dating back to last season, Cleveland has lost eight in a row. It wasn't all doom and gloom though as the team definitely has something to build off; after going down 27-3 at half time last week it would rally after the break and eventually come up short in the 30-27 setback. The offense was decent, but it was the Browns' defense which was the difference, it held a potent Steelers unit to just 3 points in the second half and would make life easier for the offense in constantly setting it up with great field position. Other bright spots include RB Terrance West who had 100 yards on 16 carries. The big question is, which Browns' secondary are we going to see today? The one that opened the first half last week like it was sleeping, or the one in the second which looked like it was on steroids? I believe we'll see a unit which is focused from the outset and think it will get into the backfield today to get Saints' QB Drew Brees out of his comfort zone. One other player to keep your eyes on today is Cleveland safety Donte Whitner who would have 13 total tackles in the loss to the Steelers. In my opinion, a great situational play, I think this is going to be a very competitive contest, I look for these teams to battle down to the wire as all signs point to the UNDER as the sharp wager in this one.
