Oakland has lost 7 of its last 10, including 2 of the first 3 games of this 4 game series in Seattle. All 3 games have been tight though and that's why I'm expecting another battle here as well on Sunday afternoon. The Mariners won 8-3 in the first, before Oakland battled for a 3-1 victory in the second. Then Seattle won 2-1 here yesterday. Despite a 3-8 win/loss record, Frankie Montas has been a consistenty bright spot for Oakland this season, as he enters with a highly respectable 3.20 ERA and 1.08 WHIP. Robbie Ray counters for Seattle and he's 6-6 with a 3.78 ERA. Ray's looked much better after a poor start for his new team, but I still expect Montas to, at the very least, match him inning for inning. And in a scenario like that, the value swings to the undervalued underdog. The play is Oakland on the runline option!
