It was their first win of any kind since January 29th. There were nine straight losses in between. Then you’ve got the fact that the two times the Mustangs faced UC Irvine, they lost by 23 and 19 points. They are 0-6 vs. UC Irvine the last three seasons. UC Irvine has won four straight and six of its last seven coming into the tournament. While Cal Poly got one day off between tournament games, UC Irvine has been off since Saturday. This figures to be quite the lopsided affair. Cal Poly had not won a single game away from home all year before Tuesday and they average just 58.6 points/game on their travels.
