Every Islanders game this season has been a shutout and good for them that they’ve come out on the winning end in two of the three. The two games vs. the Rangers couldn’t possibly have gone any more different as they won the first one 4-0, then lost the second 5-0. It was a surprise 1-0 win over Boston on Monday and now they host the Devils, who split with Boston to start the year and then beat the Rangers 4-3 on Tuesday. With the two teams producing identical 2-1 records against common opponents, you may not see much of an edge here, but we do as the Isles are 5-1 head to head with the Devils the previous two seasons. Goaltender Semyon Varlamov has opened the season with two shutouts and he is expected to be back between the pipes tonight. New Jersey easily could have lost both games to Boston and is giving up a ton of shots so far, including an alarming 50 to the Rangers Tuesday night. Play on NY ISLANDERS
