The Yankees are in Philadelphia to start the week facing a Phillies team that gave up 11 runs Sunday to a team that was stricken with COVID-19. The Philly pitching staff was totally ineffective yesterday and now must deal with a lineup that was the highest scoring in all of baseball a year ago. Furthermore, NY is no longer handicapped by the old NL rules and will now always have a DH in the lineup. The Yankees were able to win 2 of 3 in Washington over the weekend despite scoring just nine runs. This is where the offense should “pick it up” as it faces Jake Arrieta, whose best days are clearly behind him. Bone spurs cut his 2019 season short after he posted a 4.64 ERA in 24 starts. The Yankees go with J.A. Happ who gets to face his former team and he’s 5-0 with a 1.45 ERA against them since departing. Happ also looked strong in “Spring Training,” posting a 1.45 ERA in 13 IP. 10* NY YANKEES
