For both teams, this is the first game since the All Star Break. Vegas ended the first half by losing six of its last seven, so they're eager to hit the ice and we can't see this being anything worse than a one goal loss for the Golden Knights. Their last two losses, 5-4 at Montreal and 3-2 at Boston, were by both a goal. In terms of how many goals they've scored vs. allowed this season, the Knights are basically even (+2). Increasing the sense of urgency is they've fallen into fifth place in the division, leaving them on the edge of the playoffs. But a win tonight could have them back in third place. Out East, Carolina is in a similar situation, that being fifth in their own division and tied for the final Wild Card spot. Neither of these teams has won a game this year when playing three or more days rest. So there's no edge there.
