The way it stands now, the National League's Wild Card race has seven teams separated by only four games. Three teams are tied for the two spots and one is Washington, though they come into this series on a two-game losing streak. Arizona is actually in sixth place of those seven teams, but also happens to have the best run differential of any of them. Trading Zack Greinke to Houston seemed to signify a waving of the towel, but be careful before embracing that talking point. Tonight's starter Robbie Ray is the new staff ace and he'll pitch Friday night's opener, looking for a third straight quality start. Ray has 21 strikeouts the last two starts and while Washington has had his number in the past, we expect them to struggle offensively in this one. Joe Ross is hardly an inspiring choice to start this game for the Nationals as his only start of 2019 resulted in a 7-1 loss. Arizona has won 11 of the last 14 times they had the previous day off.
