We don't subscribe to any single handicapping methodology, but instead feel that being flexible with ones approach is the best way to secure profits over the longterm. This particular play is based primarily on strong/relevant ATS stats:
As note that Detroit is just 2-3 ATS in its last five non-conference road games as an underdog in the 7.5 to 11.5 points range while also coming off a SU/ATS victory, while Cal is 7-2 ATS in its last nine non-conference games as a favorite in the 9.5 to 12.5 points range.
The bottom line: The Mercy come in off a small upset, but we think that CAL'S depth and experience proves to be too much for the mid major to overcome. Play on Cal.
