Sometimes a favorite is a favorite for a reason and in this case, we absolutely believe that the Astro's Gerrit Cole could/should in fact be a much larger one in this particular matchup. Cole (9-1, 2.56 ERA) most recently struck out eight and gave up one run over five innings in a win over the Royals on Sunday. Note that Cole remains at his best on the road where he's undefeated, going 6-0 with a 2.21 ERA. The Rays go with Wilmer Font (1-3, 6.46) who went 5.2 scoreless against the Yankees on Saturday, allowing three hits and one walk. Font has progressed quickly of late and has earned a spot in the rotation, but we still think he's in way over his head in this matchup. Note as well that Houston is 36-15 (+12.4 units) against right-handed starters, while Tampa Bay is just 24-28 (-2.5 units) against right-handed starters. We're banking on Cole easily outdueling his truly untested counterpart. Play on the ASTROS.
