The home side took Game 1 of this interleague series last night and we think it'll find a way to take this one as well. The visitors go with ace Corey Kluber (11-3, 2.10 ERA) who picked up a victory over the White Sox on Wednesday, allowing one hit with one walk over seven scoreless. It's impossible to say anything negative about Kluber, so we won't bother. We simply feel that Cards' ace Carlos Martinez can match him inning for inning. We also believe that Kluber will be effected by the National League rules. Martinez (3-4, 3.24) gave up seven runs off eight hits and two walks with three strikeout over four innings in a loss to the Brewers on Thursday. Martinez has struggled a bit since returning from the DL, but the good news is that his fastball is back to peak form (95 MPH average.) And despite his shaky stretch, note that he still sports a sharp 2.29 ERA at home. It's interesting to note as well that Cleveland is still just 4-9 (-9.5 units) as a road favorite in the -125 to -175 range this season. For all the reasons listed above, play on the CARDINALS.
