Vince Velasquez has looked better after a disastrous start to the 2018 campaign, but we think the "safe" call in this one is to lay the price for the extra 1.5 runs of insurance. The visitors turn to Brandon McCarthy (4-2, 5.05 ERA) who struck out eight and gave up one run off five hits over six innings in a no-decision against the hard-hitting Cubs on Wednesday. Velasquez (4-4, 4.37) went 6.1 scoreless innings against the Cards on Thursday. Note though that it was the first time in five starts that Velasquez did not give up a home run. We think Velasquez finally has a predictable letdown here, while McCarthy looks poised to build off his recent decent performance. Lay the price, play on the BRAVES on the RUN-LINE.
