We're giving the clear nod to the Astros on the plate in this matchup. MLB success usually comes down to the starting pitching and recent form displayed by these two starters suggests that Sean Manaea (4-3, 1.63 ERA) is due for some further regression after coming off his worst start of the year by allowing four earned runs off six hits while striking out five on Thursday. Manea threw the league's first no-hitter and then predictably came back down to Earth. As mentioned above, we think that further regression is on the horizon. The defending champs send Lance McCullers (4-1, 3.73) to the hill who gave up three runs off five hits and three walks while striking out five over seven innings in a no-decision against New York on Thursday. We think McCullers and the hard-hitting visiting side is the correct call here. Manaea is on pace to finish with his best overall season to date, but his early numbers are still unsustainable at his point. Great value, play on the ASTROS.
