Neither of these starters instills much confidence, but we still think that German Marquez and the hard-hitting Rockies have the advantage. Marquez (1-2, 6.14 ERA) gave up six runs off eight hits while walking one and striking out five over 3.1 innings in a loss to the Cubs on Sunday. Note that Marquez has been shelled for 13 earned runs in 11 innings at home, compared to two earned runs given up across 11 innings on the road. Caleb Smith (0-3, 5.82) gets the nod for the home side and he most recently gave up two runs off two hits while striking out ten over six innings against the Brewers on Sunday. Smith for the most part has been a disappointment this year and we think he'll be in tough against this deep Rockies line-up. All things considered a great price. Play on COLORADO.
