This is a 10* GAME OF THE WEEK on the Houston Astros (8:10 EST).
We think this is a good spot to go against A's starter Sean Manea, who throws for the first time since posting the first no-hitter of the season against the Red Sox. Manaea (3-2, 1.23 ERA) looked brilliant in that start and has so far exceeded expectations to open 2018, but we think the third-year pro is going to finally suffer a letdown here (note that Manaea was 6-7 with a 4.50 ERA on the road last year.) The hard-hitting home side counters with Dallas Keuchel (1-3, 3.10) who finally punched one into the win column last time out, allowing one run off four hits and two walks while striking out six over six innings in a 10-1 blowout victory over the White Sox on Saturday. After a shaky start to 2018, Keuchel is starting to settle in nicely now, having allowed just three runs over his last 14 innings of work. And a date against the A's is just what the doctor ordered to keep the momentum rolling, as he was 3-1 with a 1.98 ERA vs. them last year. Note that Oakland is just 5-7 (-1.7 units0 against southpaws this year, while Houston is 6-3 (+1.5 units) against lefties. Lay the price, play on the ASTROS.
