Sometimes a favorite is a favorite for a reason and in this case we absolutely believe that Chris Sale and the hard-hitting Red Sox could/should easily be much larger ones in this particular matchup. Sale (1-1, 1.86 ERA) gave up three runs off six hits with one walk while striking out ten over seven innings in an unfortunate loss to the A's on Saturday. Sale's strong start was overshadowed by Oakland's Sean Manaea, who threw the first no-hitter of the season. Sale was 17-8 with a 2.90 ERA overall last year and he's enjoyed tremendous success whenever he's faced Toronto. The Jays counter with Marco Estrada (2-1, 5.32) earned a win in his last outing despite getting rocked for five runs off nine hits and a walk over five innings against the Yanks on Friday. His 18:8 K:BB is solid, but his peripherals (5.32 ERA and 2.5 HR/9) definitely leaving something to be desired. Note that Boston is already 12-3 (+8.3 units) against the division, while Toronto is just 6-7 (-1.2 units) against division foes. No perfect game for Estrada tonight. Play on the RED SOX.
