This is a 10* BIG TIGER on the OVER between the Chicago Cubs and the Miami Marlins.
We had a play on the Marlins as a big underdog yesterday and unfortunately they'd go on to lose 8-4 to the Cubbies. Jon Lester though wasn't particularly impressive. Neither was Jose Urena, whose first pitch of the game (and the season), was crushed for a home run. And while we think Kyle Hendricks is in line for another solid year, we think that Chicago is going to be able to take advantage of another favorable pitching matchup this evening. Caleb Smith was 0-1 with a 7.71 ERA in one start for the Yanks last year. Smith has been thrust into the starting rotation because of injuries. Note that Smith was ineffective in the spring, posting a ballooned 5.21 ERA and 1.58 WHIP over 19 innings of work. The Marlins won't be going down without a fight, so in our opinion, all signs do indeed point to a high-scoring slug-fest. Play the OVER.
