AAA's NHL SATURDAY NIGHT TOTAL "ASSASSIN!" (+$17,000 NHL RUN CONT!)
(NHL) Toronto vs. Pittsburgh,
Total: 6.00 | -130.00 Over
Result: Loss
This is an 8* ASSASSIN on the UNDER between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Pittsburgh Penguins.

We don't subscribe to any single handicapping methodology, but instead feel that being flexible with ones approach is the best way to secure profits over the longterm. Sometimes we keep it simple, while other times we'll take into account numerous different factors, like motivation, scheduling and significant injuries. Recognizing classic "spot bets" is something we always do as well, IE: the "look ahead" spot, the "let down" spot and the "trap" game. One set of criteria which we always use when making our decisions are Against The Spread (ATS) statistics.

This particular play is based primarily on strong/relevant O/U ATS statistics and common sense:

As note that Toronto has seen the total go UNDER the number in three of its last four after playing to three or more consecutive OVERs, while Pittsburgh has seen the total go UNDER the number in five of its last seven in trying to revenge a loss against an opponent in which it gave up four goals or more in (lost to the Leafs 4-3 in early December.)

The bottom line: Toronto has won nine of ten and five in a row behind a resurgent offense, scoring 26 goals over the last five. Pittsburgh comes in having won three straight behind a dominant defense, giving up just five goals in that span. While these teams did play to a higher scoring affair in December, we think the main story line in tomorrow's summaries will be these capable goaltenders. The situation and the numbers/trends all point to the UNDER as the savvy move in this contest.
