Rhode Island is 18-3, while VCU is 14-8. Rhode Island squeaked by UMass 85-83 on the road on Tuesday, while VCU comes in off an 84-76 road victory at George Mason in its latest action. VCU will be eager to avenge two loss to RIU last year. Rhode Island averages 77 PPG, but it mostly gets the job done on the defensive end of the floor, limiting opponents to just 66.7 PPG (ranked 49th in the country.) VCU averages 77.5 PPG and it allows 74.6. Note though that VCU has already seen the total go UNDER the number in four of five this year against good offensive teams which average 77-plus points per contest and in six of nine in front of the home town crowd, while RIU has seen the total go UNDER the number in three of five this season against good offensive clubs which average 77-plus points per night.
